2002 SOUTH AFRICAN EXCELLENCE AWARDS

AND THE WINNER IS ......

The South African Excellence Foundation (SAEF) awarded the 2002 South African Excellence Award to

DaimlerChrysler, Parts Divisions


of Pinetown in recognition of having succeeded in implementing best practice and quality delivery.

The Award Ceremony was held at a glittering function at the Sandton Convention Centre on 12 November 2002 and attended by 300 delegates.

This prestigious award is regarded as South Africa’s top business accolade and is viewed as our own ”Oscar for Enterprise”.

Other finalists for the award were :

Ditsobotla Municipality;
SA Airforce Protection Services 526 Squadron AFB Langebaan
SA Navy SAS Wingfield Simonstown.

Certificates of Commendation from the South African Excellence Foundation were presented to the following companies for their achievements in this rigorous award process:

A&D Holdings, Katlehong, Alberton
Bheki’s Home Improvements, Gauteng
Breathetex Corporation, Port Elizabeth
Engkon Construction, Pretoria
Mammoth Financial Services, Maseru, Lesotho
Nare Construction, Johannesburg
Olympic Projects International, Mabopane, Pretoria
Premier Gaskets, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe; and
Target Meat Industries of Lobatse, Botswana.

The Juergen E. Schrempp SAFRI Awards for Excellence for the best performing SME went to Breathetex Corporation of Port Elizabeth and to Premier Gaskets of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.

One of the highlights was the speech by Dr Nelson Mandela who spoke on Excellence in Public Service and received an honorary Members Certificate of the South African Excellence Foundation.
