| ◊ | The participants receive German language training in their home countries (in Mozambique only possible in Maputo, in Namibia only in Windhoek) and during their internship in Germany |

| ◊ | Each STEP participant is assigned one supervisor and one mentor who act as the student’s contacts in the respective department for the entire duration of the internship |
| ◊ | In the first week in Germany, the STEP participants take part in an introductory course. They learn about their future places of work and get to know the project team. General information about their daily environment is provided. |
| ◊ | During their stay, the STEP participants are familiarised with the culture, country, and people in Germany |
| ◊ | Participants receive an intern’s salary that covers the costs for accommodation and daily needs |
| ◊ | The participants receive a certificate at the end of their internship |
